Tommy Callonea
Lead Physical Therapist
My expertise lies in ACL rehab, and the return to sport process of sport-related injuries.
I take pride in being able to provide each person with an opportunity to become the best version of themselves in and out the their sport.
Throughout my professional journey, I have actively sought out mentors who are experts in the sport performance & rehabilitation fields.
I have worked along side expert clinicians as a physiotherapist & performance coach at major sport rehab facilities in both the US & Australia that rehabilitated amateur and professional level athletes in organizations such as:
AUS & USA Volleyball
NBA, NBL, & NBL-1 Basketball
AUS Cricket & Lacrosse
NFL & NCAA Football
MLB & AAA Baseball
AUS Rugby (both codes)
AFL Australian Football (aka footy)
I have co-led cutting-edge ACL research as well as helped organise and instruct Gold Coast's #1 comprehensive ACL Return To Sport program comprised of athletes of all levels and sport types. This program consisted of intensive strength & conditioning, field & court based drills, mental skills training, objective testing and sport integration.
Additionally, I've completed the Applied Performance Coaching fellowship under one of the NCAA and NBA Basketball's leading performance experts.
I want to bring my acquired expertise to help the wide range of athletes looking to improve performance, rehab injuries, and get back to their activity better than ever.
As a multi-sport collegiate athlete myself, there were multiple life changing injuries and set-backs throughout in my career that highlighted the importance of having a stepwise plan to get back to sport and stay healthy.
My goal is to be a mentor and coach to those looking to get back to what they love but are lost in the direction to take.
Through high standards of leadership, communication, and education, I will expose athletes to evidence-based information, and actively involve them in understanding the “why” behind each training program and assessment.
I look forward to building a stronger, happier, and healthier community.

As a successfully rehabilitated 2x ACL athlete I am extremely passionate about educating athletes on the resources available to them to assist in injury prevention and overall wellness. I primarily work with year-round volleyball athletes who have high demands for their body and performance.
